A Momentum is Building

Intern Spotlight: Jacob Sloup

Jacob Sloup is enjoying his summer as the Producers Hybrids Regions 3, 4, and 5 Agronomy Intern. Studying Agronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Jacob will be a senior this fall.

Jacob does a lot of soil sampling and stand counts for P3 plots in a typical day. Soil samples provide important information about the macro and micro nutrients available in the plot. Jacob has also spent time meeting growers and diagnosing agronomic issues with Product Manager, Caleb Pokorny.

“I enjoy traveling around with Caleb and meeting with growers in their fields,” says Jacob. “It’s a great opportunity for me to learn the in-field agronomy concepts and how to best communicate what we’re seeing to the growers.”

Jacob enjoys the freedom he has to plan his own schedule. He’s spent a lot of time on the road traveling to plots, but finds the exposure to various cultural and management practices interesting. He looks forwards to watching the plots grow, as they are a tremendous tool in researching different hybrids and varieties. During the rest of his internship, Jacob hopes to spent more time with District Sales Managers and learn about the sales side of the industry.

“I really like a lot of what Producers Hybrids is doing right now, and look forward to gaining more experience with the company this summer,” says Jacob.

After graduating in Spring 2019, Jacob hopes to get a job in either agronomy or sales. He wants to find a career that challenges him and puts his agronomy and agribusiness knowledge to the test!

Thanks for all of your hard work, Jacob!
