Meet Tonner Bowman, the Agronomy Intern for Regions 1 and 2 in South Dakota and Minnesota. He is a senior studying Agronomy with Precision Agriculture and Animal Science minors at South Dakota State University.
Tonner’s days vary throughout the week. Lately, he has been soil sampling P3 test plots. Throughout the summer, Tonner also helped plant test plots, worked with a variety of computer systems, participated in making recommendations to farmers, transferred seed, and dispersed field signs.
“My internship has been very diverse in tasks and I am grateful for that,” says Tonner. “I enjoy the variety of work, the chance to travel, and the opportunity to meet new people. I look forward to getting to spend more time with growers and dealers.”
After college Tonner plans to obtain an agronomy position, preferably for a seed company, that will allow him to farm part time. Eventually, he would like to grow the farm to a position where he can farm full time.
Thanks for all of your hard work, Tonner!
